Blue and Gold Banquet

The cub scouts had their Blue and Gold Banquet recently. It was a Father and Son cake making contest as well. If you know my boys, you know Carson and his Dad have a good natured rivalry with each other on whether Jeeps or Land Cruiser's are the better car.

In spirit of this disagreement, they decided to do a cake based on these two cars. I think they did a amazing job! Mom's were not allowed to help at all, so I gave them the recipes, and stood back. They did great. As you can see Carson got his way, and the Jeep made it to the top first. :)

Lee's Job

As you know, Lee took a job for Horizon Well Logging. He is a Field Geologist. We are living in Morgantown, WV, but Lee works mostly in Pennsylvania on rigs about 45 minutes north of us.

This is what Lee is having fun with while at work! You can see he gets very dirty sometimes. :) The rigs are VERY close to his trailer where he works. He spends quite a bit of time in the trailer doing paper work, but he does have to collect samples from the rig site, and fix any equipment of theirs if it should fail. He really likes the work and is learning so much. We are glad he has a job, and one that he doesn't mind going to. Now if he didn't have to work 12 hours shifts 5-6 days a week, we would like it even more!

My new "Friend"

Why have I not been blogging lately? Besides the typical blah of January, I was given the greatest gift for Christmas by my husband. A new Kindle. I absolutely love it! I have read more books since Christmas, than probably the last 6 months. Which I really don't have the time for, but it is an addictive device. :)

The screen is great, and it is very user friendly. The size is fantastic, and you can take it anywhere. The battery life lasts awhile, so you don't have to plug it in all the time. Plus, amazon has hundreds of books you can download for free. My kindle has the 3G wifi feature, which is free. I can't say enough about this great device. I also have downloaded books for my 9 year old to read, and he loves to read books on there. If you come across a word you don't know, you can put the cursor on it, and it will give you the definition. I could go on and on, but I will spare you. Just one more thing, the kindle store is amazing, you have thousands and thousands of books to choose from. It is so easy to find things, and use. I have found a new friend.

Ah...February

Some friends blogs have commented on the slow passing of January...and I have to agree. I am always happy to see it pass. It means more meaningful holidays are upon us, and Spring is just around the corner. We have had some fun activities to try and keep us distracted.

Carson had his scout pinewood derby. He assembled his with Legos to look like a Jeep,( His favorite car). His car took 5th place overall, and he had so much fun building it.

I needed color around the house, and since my sister gave me this great idea, we made Valentines together. Thanks Suzy! It was fun, and they had a blast cutting our hearts and such to decorate. Yay for color!

Finally, for those who know my youngest son Kale, you will know his obsession with games. Board games, card games, interactive games, really any game. I play games with him everyday. Lately is has been the game of life. I am not sure I know many 5 year olds that like that game, but he does! Don't break the ice is another that he loves. It is so much fun to have the time to do that with him. He loves to play, and really doesn't care if he wins. ( At least not every game :)

So here's to February! Thank goodness it has finally come.

Our New Place

We are renting a townhouse for now. It is a new experience, but it seems to be working out just fine. It is new, and we are the first tenants. I am getting used to W.Virginia. It is very hilly here, and the roads are very narrow and curvy. I will try to post some more pictures later!

Happy Birthday Kale!

Kale had a great birthday! His birthday was Dec. 30th. We went bowling, and he won. ( I promise no one let him win) He loves having a birthday after Christmas, because he gets to open presents all week. He is now 5 years old. I can't believe how big he is. My baby is growing up.
Five things that I Iove about Kale:
He loves to try new things.
He loves to hug and cuddle still
He is full of energy
He wants to pray all the time
He loves to swim

We are so glad he is in our family!
